I had the great pleasure of being interviewed on the Old Grad Podcast, an oral history podcast featuring the West Point Class of ’91, “Duty Shall Be Done.” If you don’t know my backstory, this is the podcast episode to listen to. If this were a film, I’d say you get to see some never-before-seen footage. I don’t know what the equivalent is for audio, but at any rate, you’ll get to hear some stories from my past that you’ve probably never heard before.
Clay Lowe lives in the UK and has only been back to the US once in the past 20 years. In this episode, we hear about his life as an ExPat, a crazy camping trip that included experimentation with magic mushrooms, and his “Gap Year” at West Point after a self-reported honor transgression. Clay is a deeply thoughtful person with a deep intellect and a keen sense of self. His walk-up song was appropriate “Like a Stone” by Audioslave. Perhaps it was because after prep school. 3 stap summers, and a gap year – you just can’t get Clay to back down – you can’t smoke a stone…. Or then again, maybe its appropriate because he swam like a stone in rock swimming.
Big shout out to Jamie Schleck for taking on this project and hosting the Old Grad Podcast.
